stock the freezer meal prep!
a freezer-friendly prep + everything you need to make it happen
Happy Sunday everyone! I have a really fun meal prep for you today… we’re stocking the freezer! You might have seen me over on Instagram talking about how my sister is due to have her baby boy this month, so I had to do what I know best and prep her a bunch of food to keep stocked in the freezer. I of course filmed the entire thing, and you can watch it now! We’re going through all of the recipes I picked out, the best ways to store them, which meals are the best for freezing, and so much more. Plus, you can come with me to drop it all off to my sis!
Freezing and reheating instructions are included in the guide below, so if you’re using it for your own freezer prep, grab that PDF guide and get to prepping. Now go watch the full video!
I’ve been so excited to release a new video each week and can’t thank you all enough for the support! 🚨Here’s a giveaway: go subscribe to the YouTube channel, comment “subscribed” on this (Substack) post, and 1 person will win a year(!!!) paid subscription to the newsletter!
P.S. you guys… I have a REALLY exciting announcement coming in just two weeks. It’s taking everything in me not to tell you right now, but make sure your notifications are turned on 😉
My Freezer Essentials
There are some tools that really help with freezer prep, because making lots of food in advance means you’re really stocking up. I’m a true creature of habit when it comes to food storage too, so a lot of these are already meal prep basics you may recognize! I love my glass containers because they stack easily (saving room!) and come in different sizes. Silicone bags are great for prepped proteins, veggies, or breakfast biscuits (love to use the smaller ones for smoothie bags). And if you’re looking to go all out, vacuum-seal bags and containers are a great option. My favorites below:
Spinach and Cheese Breakfast Sandwiches
Makes 8 sandwiches | prep time: 10 min | cook time: 30 min | GF, V
Nothing hits quite like a breakfast sandwich, and these Spinach and Cheese ones are so easy to put together. Feel free to mix up what you’re adding into the egg mixture—use whatever greens or veggies you may have on hand. If you’re not vegetarian, add a thin sausage patty to the sandwich or chopped sausage to the egg mixture.
Cheddar and Chive Breakfast Biscuits
makes 12 biscuits | prep time: 15 min | cook time: 25 min| GF
This new variation of my viral high-protein breakfast biscuits uses simple flavors that combine to create the most amazing savory, and slightly sweet, breakfast. These are personally a freezer favorite of mine, I always like to have a stock to take the guesswork out of morning meal time!
Spicy Sausage, White Bean, and Kale Soup
serves 4 | prep time: 15 min | cook time: 40 min | DF, GF
You can’t have a freezer meal prep without soup, it’s one of the most freezer friendly meals out there. This White Bean, Sausage, and Kale Soup is the ultimate cozy, nourishing dinner. It’s packed with protein and veggies, yet still manages to be creamy and incredibly satisfying, perfect if you’re giving it to someone who needs some comforting yummy meals! I always store my soups in silicone cubes like these.
Sheet Pan Pineapple Chicken Tacos (protein prep)
serves 4-6 | prep time: 30 min | cook time: 30 min | GF, DF, NS
Another freezer favorite of mine is some sort of protein prep. We’re keeping it fun with this Sheet Pan Pineapple Chicken. Protein preps are so helpful to have on hand, if you’re giving it to someone in your circle, they can use it how they want — tacos, quesadillas, bowls, salads, etc! The full recipe also makes for a delicious taco night.
Slow Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup
serves 6 | prep time: 15 min | cook time: 5+ hours | GF
Of course another soup!! I love this one because it’s a set and forget meal, so if you’re prepping multiple things, this can be doing its thing in the background. I call this one a tortilla soup, but it does give white chili vibes, it’s thick but creamy and very easily customizable. I always store my soups in silicone cubes like these.
Double Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies
makes 10-12 cookies | prep time: 15 min | bake time: 15 min | GF
My sister didn’t ask for anything sweet but I whole-heartedly believe that no prep would be complete without a sweet treat!! It makes for a fun surprise too. These cookies are thick, gooey, and super chocolatey. Both the raw dough and the baked cookies can be frozen as well.
Freezer & Reheating Guide
Print this out and stick it in with the freezer drop off! There’s instructions for each individual recipe and one big guide, depending on what you’re making. You can easily cut out the separate instructions into little cards and stick them in with your freezer prep delivery, or secure them with clear tape for easy use.
Freezer Prep Tips

Double wrapping in parchment then foil reduces the chance of freezer burn, key for breakfast burritos and sandwiches.
When you’re ready to enjoy your freezer prep, defrost the food slowly in your fridge to bring it to temp (per USDA Guidelines). I know we have all forgotten to do this before and it’s the biggest *sigh* at dinner time realizing you forgot, so I’ve started setting reminders on my phone for before bed or first thing in the morning to move my frozen food to the fridge.
Silicone molds are the best for freezing soups and stews in pre-portioned amounts. If you’re doing a meal prep for someone in your circle, these are a great functional gift to give alongside the food.
If you don’t have reusable bags, easily store soup or prepped proteins in large Ziploc bags!
Label everything you put in the freezer so there’s no mystery food — include what it is and when you made it (with the year 🫣). I love to use simple painter’s or masking tape and a permanent marker. It feels very chef-y too!
Give the freezer and reheating instructions for each meal. Especially if you’re giving it away, it’s nice to not have to think about it or look it up. Or, if your trusting a partner or kiddo at home to help with dinner, it’s (pretty) mistake-proof! If you’re making this freezer prep, I’ve created those for you in the full guide!!
another thing to stock up on…
LMNT electrolytes!! I dropped off a few boxes of LMNT for my sister and brother-in-law alongside the freezer prep to enjoy on those nonstop days where they need a little hydration and electrolyte boost without the sugar.
